About the Book:

Famous Bull Rider Dallas Day met Cassie Bailey briefly in high school, but her plain looks and quiet personality left no lasting impression on him. Cassie, however, couldn’t say the same about Dallas.

Their paths cross again ten years later when Dallas is home recovering from an injury, and Cassie is the only veterinarian who volunteers her services at the home-town rodeo. She’s jump-starting her new practice, and every eligible man within a ten-mile radius is trying to land a date with the attractive vet.

Dallas’ older brother bets him that, even with all his charm and fame, Dallas can’t land a date with the reserved lady vet. Not one to turn down a challenge, Dallas makes it his mission to win a date with Cassie. After seeing her, he realizes they’ve met before, but he doesn’t remember her being so pretty. His persistence pays off, but when Cassie finds out about the bet, their new love is put to the test.

Excerpt:

“Is there anything I can help you with?” A deep voice asked from behind her.
“No, I think we have it.” She hopped down from the pen. Glacier blue eyes locked with hers. She would know his eyes anywhere. Her heart quickened just as it did the first time she’d ever laid her gaze upon him, and a tingling sensation shot through her.
Dallas looked older than she remembered, broader, gruffer, but still sexy.
Tucker, you have Tucker.
Where was he, anyway? In her haste to get ready, she’d forgotten to call him.
“Dallas? Yeah, we can use a hand.” Chevy still fumbled with the lock. “Can you come over here and help me with Knuckle Head? Dr. Bailey wants him to walk around so she can get a closer look.”
“I really don’t think that’s necessary--”
“I would love to help. That’s why I’m here.” Dallas jogged to the front of the bull and grabbed the lead rope with his left hand. A plastered cast circled his right wrist and rose halfway up his forearm.
She turned to Spencer and furrowed her brow.
Spencer stared back at her and displayed her pageant winning 2005 Miss Frisbee smile, her thumb up in the air. Some friend she was.
Dallas and Chevy led the bull out of the pen while she observed the bull’s gait.
“Let’s get him over by a water hose. I want to get a closer look at his foot.” She pointed toward a washing station and followed behind the men as they led the bull, sure to steer clear of Knuckle Head’s hind legs in the event he wanted to kick her.
From her position, she had a clear view of Dallas’s backside. Everything appeared to be as tight as she remembered, which did nothing to settle those distracting tingling sensations.
Focus.

About the Author:

Erin Bevan was born and raised in Southwest Arkansas. She spent her teenage years working for her aunt at the local gas station flipping burgers and making milkshakes, dreaming of the day when something better would come her way, and it did in the form of a five foot six, one hundred and fifty pound engineer.

Fast forward ten years later, she found herself stuck inside an apartment in South Korea while her daughter went to preschool and her husband went to work. Alone and unable to speak the local language she turned to books for a friend. After reading a few hundred in such a short time, she decided to try her hand at writing one.

That first one sucked, but by the fifth and sixth book, Erin started to get the hang of this writing thing. Getting the first contract in the mail was a dream come true. Now, with three babies at home, she squeezes in stories one word at a time, one sentence at a time, one day at a time.

She’s a full time mom, a full time wife, with a little writer sprinkled in whenever she can get the chance. And the laundry? Well, it’s best not to open the washroom door!

Fear and Ragnarok by Tina Glasneck @TinaGlasneck @KMNbooks #mythologies

KAREN: I'm so glad to welcome Tina Glasneck. She's here today to tell us about her new release and how Norse mythology played a big part in penning this exciting tale. Let's give her a warm welcome!

TINA: Thank you, Karen, for welcoming me on your blog today.

I’m happy to share about Norse mythology, especially how fear plays a major role in the circle of death and rebirth, and the deception caused by prejudice and bigotry. Oh, how the world has been doomed because of the appearance of some of Loki’s children.

Norse mythology is quite different in that the gods are able to die (they are only able to live longer lives due to their consumption of a golden apple), and it is this fear of death that creates a powder keg for Ragnarok, the end all battle. It is said that in order for the god Odin, the All-father, to gain wisdom and insight, he gave his eye. But that was not all that it cost him. His fear of the end and of trying to stop it propels it forward, eventually costing him and the other gods their lives.

Part of that, of course, comes from the mischievous one god, Loki, who is Odin’s blood-brother and a travel companion to the god of Thunder, Thor. Although Loki is the mastermind behind the great fall of the gods, through the apocalypse, known as Ragnarok, his children -- the wolf Fenrir, the Midgard serpent Jörmungandr, and the ruler of Helheim, Hel, all collude to fight against the gods in Asgard.

At the end, the reigning pantheon and all but two humans perish, and a new pantheon arises, as well as a new world.

But how did this begin?

The short answer. Fear. Loki’s children were cast out of Asgard because the gods believed that they might cause problems, just like Loki, and part of that was due to their appearance. Fenrir is a giant wolf (who was discovered as a pup), the serpent was tossed in the sea, and now circles Midgard, and Lady Hel was half-beautiful and half decomposed and she was given the realm of Helheim. Because of their appearance they were cast from the gods’ sight. As a parent, I often wonder if Loki’s mean-spiritedness happened because of how his children were treated by the gods in Asgard.
Loki, being a fire god, could also serve as a warning that fire can be good, but if you play with it prepare to be burned. This launched the what-if-idea to create the foundation of my Dragons series, whereby I asked what would the gods do to stop Ragnarok, and could a mighty dragon be the champion the gods needed?

In a Dragon’s Destiny, a young woman, Jaz, has always felt cursed. She’s lived and operated in a man’s world, but no one has seen behind the mask that she puts up. Of course, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a crush that makes her heart pitter-patter. The bad thing about this crush is that it’s her best friend’s brother, and brothers are usually off limits.

When life goes awry due to the gods instigating, Jaz is sent back to 1520 where she’ll have to deal with everything from witchcraft to holy wars!

Where fear rules there can be no true peace!

Blurb for A Dragon’s Destiny

A dragon, a hapless hero, a kick-ass heroine and destiny meet in this fiery, time traveling adventure.

After all, curses are destined to be broken...

In this first book of the Dragons series, time travel and fantasy weave together in a fast-paced, funny, yet deeply moving romance.

Jaz has always felt like a fish out of water in modern America. When a chance discovery leads her to realize she is actually a dragon, she travels to a parallel plane. It is here she must seek her true destiny. In this distant time and place, Jaz discovers that Erich, the man she secretly lusts after in modern times, is the Dark Knight. He’s ruthlessly extinguishing the ancient Norse religion.

Could it be that Erich, the merciless knight, is the beloved Jaz must find to release her dragon heart?

“Two months ago my world collapsed and the beast reigned.
Seven weeks ago the SRD captured me.
Nine days ago, they injected me with something vile.
Today, I break free.
And tomorrow?
I’ll make them pay.”

Badass Shifter Andy McNeilly wakes up from a horrible nightmare, only to discover it wasn’t a dream, and she’s no longer quite so badass. Chemically curbed, Andy has lost touch with her feras and beast when she needs them most. Can she regain control of her supernatural abilities in time to reap retribution from her enemies, or will she fall as fodder in a power play for control of Vancouver’s seedy underworld?

Excerpt from Beast of All

No feras. No beast. Whatever they shot me with blocked my communication with the animals. Did it prevent shifting as well? I squeezed my eyes shut and tried to call a form and change. Only a headache answered. Dread flittered across my skin. Was this permanent?
As the Carus, the genetic throwback to the first demi-god progeny of the beast goddess, I caged a beast with rage and power rivaled by few, and possessed more than one animal familiar to shift into.
At least, I did until the SRD shot me full of chemicals. Would I ever regain my abilities? Hear the indignant screech of the peregrine falcon? Or the lusty purr of the mountain lion? Or soulful howl of the wolf?
My heart hammered, punching bone. A buzzing sensation filled my head. The “wrongness” of my condition grated against my nerves, slicing them into slivers like a planer shucking off wood shavings.
Something in my abdomen swelled, as if the beast pushed against whatever barrier caged and hid her from me.
I’ll get you out, I told her, not knowing if she could hear. We’ll make them pay.

Shift Work: A Carus Series, Book Four

Badass Shifter Andy McNeilly is running on empty. The death of a prominent supernatural being has her reeling. The invention of a new street drug has the police knocking on her door for assistance. And a friend needs her unique skills to help investigate a messy murder.

In the interest of paying the bills, paying it forward, and keeping the Supernatural Regulatory Division off her back, Andy once again slips through the dark streets of Vancouver’s seedy underworld. In the process, she uncovers secrets that threaten to derail her love life and her investigation. Can Andy capture a murderer, solve a mystery, and forgive her lover’s past? Or will the grime of the criminal world swallow her whole?

Excerpt:
They took the elevator up with a couple that left them when the doors opened on the third floor. Then they were alone. All alone. He was staring at her again, and she wondered for the umpteenth time why.
Finally, the doors to the elevator opened on their floor and he allowed her to go on ahead of him, like a perfect gentleman. She had a hunch it was more so he could check out her behind as she walked, but she had her sweater wrapped around her waist, so he wasn't seeing much.
She fished out her key from her purse once they were at her door. She turned to say goodnight to him, but he was so close she took a step away. He took a step closer and she backed herself against the wall. His lips slid into a smile that reminded her of a predator ready to take down its prey. This was Bellamy though: sexy as hell Bellamy with the voice that could seduce any woman into compliance. He knew it too. God, how he knew it.
His sure fingers removed her black-rimmed glasses. "I've been wanting to do that all day." He slipped the handle at the opening of her blouse. It was only her glasses, but it felt way too intimate, like his finger was doing the caressing as the handle brushed her cleavage. Next, he reached for the pins holding her hair in a bun, leaving it to cascade around her face like the frizz ball it was, but he didn't seem to mind. She wondered if he could hear her heart. It beat so fast, pounding hard as if it wanted to move closer to him.
"What would you say, Book Marm, if I picked you up and carried you to my room? Would you let me make love to you?" He nuzzled her neck but didn't kiss her, though she could feel the heat of those luscious lips.
She bit her own to keep herself from crying out, Yes, yes, take me.
"You smell divine," he murmured.
She nearly snorted. Everyone knew Bellamy Lovel couldn't smell or taste due to a blow to the head. Well, in her time they knew that. He'd kept it a secret. Only after his death did everyone find out the truth. It had been a freak accident at a baseball game. The foul ball hit him in the head, but it was the fall where he hit the back of his head that caused the damage. His loss of those senses had also added to his depression.
"Well?" He glanced at her now. His eyes were heavy-lidded, and she could smell the alcohol he'd been consuming all day on his breath, but if she didn't know better, she would have thought he was indeed turned on.
If she didn't know better...
He couldn't smell her at all. So what game was he playing right now? She didn't really care. He wanted to play. Well, so could she.
She smiled sweet and slow as she ran her hand over his chest, which the button-down shirt left bare. Then she realized what she was doing. Jesus, she was running her hand over his flesh. She blinked. Concentrate, concentrate. "If I go with you to your room, I'll give you the best sex you ever had." She held his gaze, even though her heart was rioting in her chest.
For a moment his smile slipped and his brows rose high on his forehead. Heck, she was doing a little eyebrow raising herself too. Did his heartbeat just pick up speed? She rubbed her hand over his chest, pressing a little harder, but before she could decipher the answer, he clasped her wrists and raised her hands to his lips with a sweet caress. A chill ran down her spine and yet, she felt hot as if her blood had reached the boiling point.
"Ah Darlin', I have the mind to take you up on your fine offer, but we both have an early day tomorrow." He leaned forward and she thought he was going to kiss her. She licked her lips and again he gave her that wicked smile, but instead, he pressed his mouth to her forehead. "Goodnight, Miss Book Marm."
Then he was gone. It took her a few seconds to realize she was still standing in the hall and not in her room. "Jesus." She fumbled with the key and went inside before she melted into a puddle of mush.
Bellamy had kissed her. Not a passionate you're-so-hot kind of kiss, but his lips had touched her flesh.
She pushed away from her door and this time, she did snort. "Get a grip. He's just a man." And kissing and hugging were not about her mission here. She had less than three weeks to convince him he didn't want to end his life after the tour began, and he had nights alone in hotel rooms. Long hours where he could dwell on the past. Days where he only had a few hours of shuteye before he'd have to perform again. He would be exhausted, making it easy for depression to weigh him down.
No more kissing, she firmly warned herself, even if it was only a peck on the forehead. The next weeks with him were crucial. She needed him to open up to her, to confide in her, and hopefully, she would be able to come up with some words of wisdom that he could carry with him when the shadows haunted him.
