Madysen Duke has been coerced to participate in a reality show with her teacher friends. But little does she know, her high school flame is also along for the ride, with intentions much different from hers. Even though she's out for the money, he's trying to thwart whatever crime is happening right before their eyes.

KAREN: What’s next? Any works in progress?
Markee: I’m working on another cupid story, to be the second in the series.

KAREN: Is there anything else you’d like to tell the readers?
Markee: Join me on twitter (@MarkeeAnderson) and on Facebook (http://tinyurl.com/ng2cqfk) for updates.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
I live in Wisconsin, with a husband, three kids over 18, and a few pets. Because my life is kind of boring, I live vicariously through my characters.

Wouldn't it be nice to go back in time and relive the wonder of new love and romance? My husband doesn't know the meaning of romance, so I'm trying to teach him what women like. I firmly believe men could have whatever they wanted if they only read romances and took notes. I also think every man should take a Romance 101 class, filled with wonderful romance novels. Their wife or girlfriend would have to rate them at the end of the class.

Wouldn't the world be a nicer place if that were true?

Stephanie Burkhart
Story: Arrow Through The Heart

KAREN: If you were a book, what would your blurb be?

STEPH: Down on her luck, Stephanie hopes to find her way in the U.S. Army. Honor. Integrity. Courage. Duty. Responsibility. Stephanie embraces the best the Army has to offer. She evens find love and marries in Denmark.

Marriage offers its own unique challenges. She leaves the Army and joins the LAPD as a dispatcher. The job allows her to explore her childhood dream – writing. Can Stephanie build a successful life for herself after a tough childhood or will she struggle for the rest of her life?

KAREN: Every writer has a distinctive ‘voice’- what would be your voice’s tagline?
STEPH: In the face of never ending challenges, hope buds like a delicate flower.

KAREN: Tell us about your story in the anthology. What’s it about?

STEPH: "Arrow Through the Heart" is set on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. Ella is a tennis pro set to play in a match during the 4th of July holiday. She meets the handsome Logan Donovan and is quite smitten, but a stalker tries to sabotage Ella's play. Will her stalker destroy her life?

I think there's nothing that sums up the ambiance of summer than the 4th of July holiday. There's BBQ, fireworks, water, sunshine, ice cream, and pie. With that in mind, I chose a lakeside setting for the holiday. I wanted my heroine to be sporty and athletic and have that in common with my hero. Ella and Logan grew from that.

KAREN: What’s next? Any works in progress?

STEPH: I'm working on a short story for the VTP Autumn Anthology. It's called "Young Witchcraft" and it's set in Salem, Massachusetts. Rachel is a witch who doesn't like to be touched and Joe is a young man with a sensory processing disorder. Can witchcraft bring them together or will it tear them apart?

Book 3 of The Windsor Diaries, my steampunk romance series out! It's called "A Lady Never Lies." Jocelyn Dunkirk prefers leather dresses to tight corsets. Men avoid her like a dirty rivet. Prince Richard doesn't care. He intends to win Jocelyn's heart, but is Jocelyn willing to her father and her world for Richard?

KAREN: Is there anything else you’d like to tell the readers?

STEPH: You can find "The Windsor Diaries" series on Blog Tours all this summer with Goddess Fish Promotions. Victorian Scoundrel and A Gentleman and a Rogue are participating in review tours. A Lady Never Lies will have a book blast on 11 JUN. I'm giving out Amazon gift cards so I hope to see them on the tours.

Gerald Costlow

Story: Taking Liberty

GERALD: I like to get out of the way and tell the story from the characters’ point of view, using their words and thoughts and observations.

KAREN: Tell us about your story in the anthology. What’s it about?

GERALD: The theme in this story is how the struggles in life change people, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse.  Our protagonist, Libby Bell, is faced with a violent ex-boyfriend who refuses to let her go.  She’s tried running away and discovered that doesn’t work.  We also are introduced to a man who has fallen in love with Libby and struggles to find a way to help.  What does she do now?

Larry Hammersley
Story: Marcy's Struggle

KAREN: If you were a book, what would your blurb be?

LARRY: Marcy Mason is in her final year of graduate school pursuing a PhD in chemistry.  She has brains and she has looks but her struggle is in the romance department.  Can she convince Ross Franklin, the college’s star quarterback that she’s over a past flame and their vastly different backgrounds don’t make a difference?

KAREN: Every writer has a distinctive ‘voice’- what would be your voice’s tagline?

 LARRY: Descriptive.

KAREN: Tell us about your story in the anthology. What’s it about?

LARRY: Marcy Mason, a chemistry graduate student is pursuing her PhD.  She met Ross Franklin when they were in undergraduate school.  She was a senior and he was a freshman and second string quarterback.  At the time Marcy was hung up on Leroy Doyle but he only had eyes for Jody Stinson.  They moved away and got married.  Marcy can’t convince Ross that she’s over Leroy, but can she convince herself?

When Leroy shows up on campus to give a lecture, Marcy must make all the arrangements.  Ross says it is her chance to prove she’s over Leroy.  After Leroy leaves Marcy knows she’s over him and wants Ross in her life.  Ross isn’t convinced and he also cannot get past their vastly different backgrounds.  He refers to himself as a dumb jock and her a very smart chemistry student.  Marcy tells him he’s not dumb and their different backgrounds makes no difference.  At one point Marcy is injured in a laboratory explosion.  Ross also takes Marcy to a party thrown by his coach.  Marcy barely prevents Ross from getting in a fight with the coach and one of the players because they gave him a hard time for bringing Marcy instead of Vonda the drum major.  Two days before their graduation Ross tells Marcy he’s joining a pro football team on the east coast.  Marcy has accepted a job at Berkley in California.  She despairs at their pending separation.

The next day she rushes to the train station to say goodbye to Ross but she gets delayed by a snarl in traffic.  When she reaches the train station the train is already moving.  Fighting back tears she slowly walks away from the boarding platform when she hears her name spoken.  It’s Ross with his suitcases standing on the platform.  She runs to him and he accepts her into his arms.  He’s decided to take an assistant coaching job at the same college where she will be.  He’s convinced she’s over Leroy and their background differences don’t matter.

KAREN: What’s next? Any works in progress?

LARRY: I am writing a new science fiction story and am 50,000 words into it.  I have planned to write a novel or novella based on a Bible character in the Old Testament but must do some research for that time period.

KAREN: Is there anything else you’d like to tell the readers?

LARRY: I have two novels out from two different publishers.  One is a sweet romance (mine are always sweet) about the characters Leroy and Jody which I mentioned above.  Marcy appears in that novel and I wanted to give her closure in the short story.  My other novel is science fiction and also a sweet romance is involved.  My various short romance stories at various sites are also with links at my website and blog.  I have a couple of free reads as well on the internet.

My website is still under construction but most of the links work.

About the author:
I am age 76, married to Sue for 51 years, have two children and five grandchildren. I have a BS in chemistry from Purdue University and MS in chemistry from Indiana University.  I enjoy jogging, amateur radio, occasional woodworking, am active in our church and I’ve been writing for 39 years.

I have several short romance stories at various sites on the internet.  I started out writing short science fiction stories and more recently sweet romance stories.  My first accepted novel is a contemporary romance and my second novel is science fiction.  Both novels released in 2013.

Sneak Peek at 'Blame It On Texas'! @AmieLouellen @KMNbooks #books

Karen: It's release day! Enjoy a sneak peek of Blame It On Texas by Amie Louellen!

Blame it on Texas

a contemporary romance by Amie Louellen

Every first love deserves a second chance.

BlameItOnTexas-ART(1)
Shelby Patterson has come back to Texas for one reason and one reason only—to get her husband to sign divorce papers. She’s worked hard to build her California bakery, where clients clamor for her one-of-a-kind creations. Seven years after her disastrous marriage, she’ll finally have everything in perfect order—just as soon as Ritter McCoy signs the dotted line.

Ritt is still pissed that Shelby walked out all those years ago without giving their marriage a chance. Sure, they were young and had just lost the baby that had rushed them to the altar, but they’d loved each other beyond reason. Ritt gave up his college baseball scholarship, only to have Shelby and her mom take his parents’ bribe money and run. If Shelby wants those papers signed, she’ll just have to wait until he’s good and ready.

Or maybe, before she flies the coop again, he can convince her the love they had between them is still there—and still hot enough to melt their hearts back into one.

Warning: This book contains a sexy Texas boy determined to recapture his first love. May also produce feelings of nostalgia and longing for slow kisses and sweet tea.

Enjoy the following excerpt for Blame it on Texas:

She should have known she’d find him like this. Shelby looked down at the oil-stained driveway to the denim-clad legs protruding from underneath the ancient Ford. The hem of the jeans was frayed, the worn cowboy boots dusty and with a few stains of their own. She propped her hands on her hips, doing her best not to tap her foot in irritation. It would do no good. If there was one thing she’d learned in her time as Ritt McCoy’s wife, he had his own timetable and to hell with anyone else’s. “I said, I need to talk to you.”

“And I said, just a minute,” his muffled voice returned.

Shelby bit back a growl and used the thick packet of papers to fan herself. That was one thing she didn’t miss about Texas—the heat. But with any luck and the good Lord’s grace, she’d only be here another few minutes, an hour at the most, and then she’d be on her way back to California. A trickle of sweat ran down between her shoulder blades and into the small of her back. Shelby fanned harder and checked her watch. She’d been waiting twenty minutes for Ritt to finish whatever it was he was doing to the truck and sign on the dotted line. That was nineteen more than she cared to wait.
“Ritt.”
“Shelby.”
“I need you to sign these.”

“In a minute.”

“Now. I have a plane to catch.” She jumped back, nearly snapping the heel off one peep-toe pump. They had been a special purchase for this trip along with the form-fitting black dress that hugged her like a second skin. Scrambling to get out of the way, she managed to maintain her balance as Ritt pushed the creeper from under the truck. And there he was, the boy who stole her heart, took her virginity and married her all in one summer. Well, he’d had her heart for years before that. And he wasn’t a boy any longer; though the years, she grudgingly admitted, had been very kind to him.

“What?” he asked.

Even lying down, he looked taller, broader, more. She was glad to have the advantage, standing over him like she was. “I’m in a hurry.”

“Not my problem.” He disappeared in a quick swoosh back under the truck. But he left his image behind. Dark blond hair curling from under a ratty Longhorns baseball hat. Dirt smeared T-shirt covering a chest she didn’t remember as having quite so many muscles. Long legs, firm lips, square jaw.

“I’ve flown over a thousand miles to get you to sign these. The least you could do is get out from under there and do it.” Her voice rose in pitch, the whine she’d been tamping down rising to the surface. Couldn’t he see how they needed this? That it was time to move forward?

There was a loud clunk, which sounded like head versus oil pan, then a muffled curse. He rolled out again, and before she knew what had happened he was towering over her. She took a couple of steps back for good measure, unable to meet his blue-gold gaze as he studied her face.

“What is it, Shelby? What is so important that you flew all the way out here to grace me with your presence?”

She was wrong. The years had been more than kind to him, they had outright adopted him. Had he always been this tall? This broad? This…masculine? He had, she decided. But after seven years away, she had forgotten what a man her Texas boy had been. She licked her lips, the sight of him bringing back more memories than she cared to delve through. Prom night, at the lake after the baseball games, Saturday afternoon in the canyon…
